Es funktioniert genau gleich wie für die ADM1. Zuerst muss die ADM1 zugeordnet sein und dann werden die ADM2 dafür zur Auswahl angezeigt. Es bedingt aber, dass die ADM2 schon in der DB erfasst sind und der korrekten ADM1 zugeordnet sind.

The cities100 files contains the largest cities, if we don't know the population then we cannot include it except if it has a relevant featurecode like capital or seat of admin division.
If you see missing population of an important city, please add it and the next day it will be in the file.

We have it for other countries. Look at the fields 'adminCode1-4'. If the fields are filled then the information is available.

If you need a service that is reliably running all the time then I can only offer the commercial services. I cannot afford to buy hardware to answer an infinite number of requests for free. I have to pay for hardware, electricity and everything else. If your project is so 'important' then you can certainly help share the costs and don't want to depend entirely on my generosity to run free services for you.

The extendedFindNearby returns the most detailed possible result.
1. In the US it tries to return the findNearbyAddress,
2. if this does not find anything then it returns the findNearbyPlaceName
3. if this does not return anything either then it returns the countrycode and the continent code.

I don't think it is possible to achieve useful results with a single sql select. The GeoNames RSStoGeoRSS is an application with thousands of line of code.

Hi Jonas

We are pinging for services once per hour which results in 96 pings per day. Attached a graph of the number of pings that don't receive an answer. The graps starts with June 2008 and ends yesterday.

The zero days in January are the result of a DDOS effect when we had to turn of the domain name ws.geonames.org.

In the last days the availability has degraded a lot and I am working on improving the situation. I have so far blocked a couple of IP addresses of people who do several hundred thousand lookups per day. And I am enforcing now a credit limit of 5000 per hour. If this does not improve the situation we will have to further reduce the number of allowed credits per IP address to far below the current limit of 50000 credits per day.

Der srtm3 Wert steht nicht drin. Um ihn selbst zu berechnen müsstest du einen Satelliten bauen und hochschiessen. Einfacher ist es den Webservice zu verwenden, aber bitte nur vereinzelte Einträge und nicht alle 6mio. Der gtopo30 ist hingegen im Dump drin.

Die 'elevation' Werte sind nicht identisch mit srtm3, sondern entsprechen dem genauen Höhenwert des Toponyms. Srtm3 ist ein durchschnittswert an dieser Stelle in einem Rechteck von ca 100m Seitenlänge.

Ein Key würde nichts ändern. Es hat in diesen Tagen einfach mehr Benutzer, die die Service verwenden wollen als Hardware um die Anfragen zu beantworten. Ein Key ändert daran nichts.
Wenn es so weiter geht muss ich die Anzahl Aufrufe für die kostenlosen server pro IP Adresse reduzieren. Vielleicht auf 10000 pro Tag (von jetzt 50000) oder noch tiefer.

Für alle Benutzer mit wichtigen Applikationen gibt es eine Alternative:

City names are not unique, both are valid cities. Why do you discard the county information?

Die Server sind im Moment überladen mit Zugriffsanfragen, einen klaren Schuldigen lässt sich jedoch nicht ausmachen.
