It seems that the population of the city does not account enough for the relevance in the search engine result position. I will put it on the nice-to-have list and find an improvement when the time allows.

You could try to use the 'title' parameter to search only in the title.

There is no timeline for this. It is somewhere on the todo/nice-to-have list. I would say it depends on how much interest it raises. At the moment it seems that not any users are asking for it.

It depends on the country. You could try the findNearbyPostalCodes service or another reverse geocoding service:

I have changed the main name of Toscana.

With the autonomous regions I am not sure. Here they list five of them:

Maybe we should add the long name with "Regione Autonoma" for those as an alternate name.

Under heavy load I would expect poor performance or no answer at all, I don't think that heavy load will cause encoding problems. More likely it seems is that when you process a large number of feeds you are also more likely to have some feeds with encoding problems. So I assume the problem is somewhere else and not related to server load.

Möchtest Du mithelfen die Daten zu erfassen oder möchtest du bloss wissen ob jemand anders die Daten schon erfasst hat?
Die Daten wären in der Spalte admin2Code. Wenn die Spalte leer ist, dann ist die Information noch nicht vorhanden.

Ich weiss nicht wieviele es geben sollte. Du finest die List der ADM2 in GeoNames mit dieser Suche:

So weit ich das sehe sind alle einer admin1 zugeordnet.

Hast du mit einer bestimmten adm2 Probleme bei der Zuordnung?

I don't think too many cities are missing from the cities1000 files. Of course it depends on the region you are looking at. I can imagine that there are some huge cities in China or India I have never heard of and that are missing population data.

Both are correct.

I am afraid I don't understand your question and in any case I don't think there is a clear answer for it. GeoNames is a simplified representation of the real world and not a mathematical construct. As a representation of the real world is has a lot to due with historical and political issues that are not easy to model in a strictly mathematical context.

Eine übersetzte Datei haben wir nicht. Alles was wir tun könnten wäre eine zusätzlich Spalte einzuführen und dort das Resultat einer automatischen Konversion aufzuführen. Dies wäre wie gesagt keine übersetzung sondern die Russichen Namen von kyrillischen in ascii character konvertiert.
