Hello,

I try to get the city name information from lat/long values? With the findNearbyPlaceName I get the nearest place name, but it's not always the city name to which the lat/long values belong .

Do you have any idea to help me?

Thanks a lot
marc

Hi

It depends on the country. You could try the findNearbyPostalCodes service or another reverse geocoding service:
http://www.geonames.org/export/reverse-geocoding.html

Hello,

'findNearbyPostalCodes' does not work in my country.
I am in Israel and am getting an exact GeoCoding street address by supplying Longitude & Latitude.
However, there is no option to get a city name. that doesn't make sense

I tried here:
http://www.geonames.org/export/reverse-geocoding.html
and
http://www.geonames.org/export/ws-overview.html

would appreciate any help regarding getting the city name

Many thanx

marc

GeoNames does not have postal codes for Israel. You could use the findNearbyPlacename service to get the city.

Thank you Marc,
I am currently trying to use extendedFindNearby, which gives me the city name and the neighborhood name too

Thanx again
