Du hast recht, das ist ein Fehler. Gemäss Dokumentation sollte es nur 5 PLZ und nicht 50 anzeigen. Wenn du mehr möchtest, musst du den Parameter maxRows verwenden.

latin1_german1_ci and latin1_german2_ci are two terms used by mysql for ordering.
For transliteration I think it is common to translate the Umlaute with the additional 'e' character.

We are using freely available country border polyons to automatically determine the country and administrative division of new places. These polygons are simplified and in border region they sometimes return the wrong result.
I have manually fixed it. (click on 'edit' then on the country name)

Jens has found two more errors (name of Swedish currency and a column shift for United States Minor Outlying Islands).
All these fixes will be available with the next dump.

We are using shapefiles provided by the US government to determine the timezone. It is not possible to derive it from the dump, nor is it editable.

Oh, I see you are trying to load the postal code dump into the toponym table. This does not work, but it is a piece of cake to modify and adapt the scripts, isn't it?
There are two dumps, you have to decide which one you want.

we had a disk crash and had to replace a server. The ip address you have seen is the one of the new server which was not yet configured properly on other servers in the cluster.

Synchronization of updates on all the servers in the GeoNames cluster is supposed to be instantaneously. Sometimes however it takes some time. Right now I think all servers return the same result for your reverse geocoding query.

Die Verwendung von Wildcards wir nur über die 'startsWith' Funktion unterstützt. Wildcards am Ende oder innerhalb des Wortes werden noch nicht unterstützt.
