Administrative Divisions -> Admin 2 country code -> Go to message
you don't need the adminXXXCodes.txt files. They are generated from the normal dump and are only for convenience.
admin1Codes.txt contains some obsolete codes that are no longer in use (but may still be referenced to as they may not yet have been updated to the new code)

don't speak of the number of characters for each level as the length is not fix.

country: iso code
adm1: mostly fips, some iso, some others
adm2-adm4: mostly country specific code, some iso, some geonameid as adm code when no other code is available.

The document has not been updated, I will update it:

Most adm1 are FIPS codes. ISO codes are used for US, CH and ME. UK and Greece are using an additional level between country and fips code.

The adm1 code in the concatenated adm2 code refers to the respective adm1 code. You don't have to post a list of inconsistencies unless you want to help fix them.

The reason is that the two letter codes are more commonly used and it is only exotic languages that are not covered by the 2-letter code.

I don't see any 'squares' for the places you list below. I would rather say you haven't installed the right fonts on your machine to have them rendered properly.

You should look at the Exception you get then you understand.

The adminName1 is not included in the default result, you have to set the 'style' to a higher value to have the field filled.

Flächen sind nicht vorhanden, die Einwohnerzahl ist für die meisten Hauptstädte vorhanden.

Thanks , I have converted all 3 letters code two their 2 letter code if it is available and will implement a conversion in the user interface when users add new translations.

Hallo Iceman

Das verstehe ich nicht ganz. In unserer DB ist die Spalte 200 char lang. Geht es vielleicht um den Unterschied Anzahl Zeichen zu Anzahl Bytes (bsp bei Oracle).
