Hi all, I like very much your free services.
But, as I need to reverse some GPS coordinates of european cities, I'd like to know if are you planning to extend your reverse gecoding service to Europe as well, and if I can help you to do that.
Thank you very much
Sergio

Hi Sergio
GeoNames has a lot of worldwide reverse geocoding services. I guess you refer to the street level reverse geocoding available for US addresses? We can not offer it for lack of freely available data for Europe.
All European street level data sets are commercial. We can help you setup reverse geocoding with a commercial data provider, but we are not allowed to offer the service for free.
Best
Marc

Hi Marc - We have a number of test vehicles in the US, Canada and Europe and we would like to reverse geocode the gps coordinates to street level addresses or at min suburb level. First we want to handle the units we have in Holland. Are you saying that there is no free service to do this in Europe? if yes, who would you suggest we talk with? i found one company in Canada called NAC but they charge $49 per 1000 transactions which expire each month - as our devices report in each hour it is costly. Also, does geonames offer this reverse service for the US for free? Sorry if the questions are basic or answered before but i'm not familiar yet with the process. Kind Rgs Sean

Yes, GeoNames is offering free street level reverse geocoding for the US: http://www.geonames.org/maps/reverse-geocoder.html
For The Netherlands we could do it with TeleAtlas data. As explained above this would need a license from the data provider.

Hi,
few weeks ago, I created a web application which also provides reverse geocoding of whole gps track, you can access it on:
http://my-track.net/
the database behind is GeoNames.
if you need reverse geocoding of only single point, there's a simple API:
http://my-track.net/gpx2/help/api.html
