Hi all,

I'm wondering if geonames has considered an 'isAbbreviation' flag on altnames the way isPreferred currently works. I ask this primarily for country names. For instance, in the US, I see two russian names, one of which is a long name and one of which is an abbreviation

ru Russian Соединенные Штаты
ru Russian США

It would be nice to know that one is an abbreviation for use in display formatting.

Alternatively, does anyone have an external list of localized country abbreviations?
