Hello!

I found out that some of the locations in geonames lack the seconds. It seems they are not truncated, but rounded. I was looking for a way to improve them in some way.
It might help if I could find some information about the datasources used to maybe treat them differently by source. Is there some way to retrieve the used data source or any other similar metadata?

When hovering over them in the map view, the placemarkers show a square around them of 1 minute size. Where does this size come from, is it just an assumption based on the feature? I could not find anything in the data itself.

Check here for an example: http://www.geonames.org/maps/google_14.00_-88.47.html

Thanks,

Dirk.

Some datasets had the coordinates rounded.
The bounding box for cities is most often based on an assumption with population and featurecode.
