I used to add to Geonames frequently some time - even years - ago and wanted to edit some population figures now. When saving an edited point the message "your account has been disabled for updates" appears. What happened?

you have deleted a couple of ADM3 (Gemeinde) in Switzerland with the remark 'More accurate version is already available'. Whatever this means it is not a reason to delete valid records. You have also added duplicates like 'Schaffhausen'. I have tried sending you an email, but the email bounced as the email address registered with the account did no longer exist. All that I could do was to disable the account.

Best

Hello Marc, I see your points. However, I do not understand why a ADM3 which can accurately be assigned to a community shall appear somewhere out in the bushes. Maybe it is also worthwhile to check which designation of these communities was filed first. It seems that this does not really matter in this case. I can live with the suspension of my account.
Best regards,

ADM3 are communities. They cannot be assigned to communities. May be you want to have them located at their seat / largest populated place. In this case it is easy to move them to an other position on the map. Deleting them is a very weird action and a case of vandalism.
