On http://download.geonames.org/export/dump/readme.txt it is stated that gtopo30 represents squares of 30 arcminutes. That should be 30 arcseconds (" instead of '). Also on http://www.geonames.org/data-sources.html the link to gtopo30 should be updated to the new eros-address: http://eros.usgs.gov/#/Find_Data/Products_and_Data_Available/gtopo30_info.
