Hi,

I'm a developer for a website that rents out holiday apartments. We are using GeoNames data mainly to place those apartments into a location hierarchy, so that users searching for "France" will get apartments tagged with "Paris" etc.

So we are mainly concerned with the accuracy of the hierarchy data (to make sure the apartment in a city in Yorkshire actually gets tagged as Yorkshire and not some other district, e.g.).

Does your premium data offer advantages in this regard?

Cheers,

The premium data product has two goals.

a) increase the quality and avoid errors. In order to achieve this the extract is produced once per month and goes through a range of over 200 quality checks. Batch updates are also scheduled to result in a consistent state for the premium extract. This in particular when updating the admin divisions with new sources from national mapping agencies.
b) the premium extract also includes additional data. For the hierarchy these are a far bigger hierarchy export as it also included the hierarchy for featureclass 'S'.

Best

Marc
