Hello,

could someone clarify how the results are ordered when requesting wikipedia entries with a bounding box? If the number of entries exceeds maxRows, will only those entries nearest to the center of the bbox be returned? Or is some sort of relevance factor used (e.g. cities, churches, museums first; then schools pubs etc)?

I would greatly appreciate some clarification.

Yours,

Felix

It is sorted by some kind of relevance. The types are not very reliable so the relevance needs to be based on other factors like length of article, number of links etc.

Hello Marc,

thanks for the clarification. That is the sorting I was hoping for. However, I wasn't too sure as the Cologne Cathedral often does not make the cut when viewing the articles around Cologne in German. I suspect the article about the Cologne Cathedral to be among the largest and most relevant ones. Other articles that are less important and shorter are included.

Is that a problem specific to Cologne?

You are right this entry was having and empty relevance. I have updated the db with a new relevance that covers all records. Let me know if the result is fine with you.

Thanks form looking into this. Unfortunately it seems that this has not been fixed for the german version of the entry.

Could you look at this again?

You are right, I have found another issue. For performance reasons the result was not sorted under some circumstances. I have improved the query so that it will be better sorted, though not perfect. There might still be situations where the sort will miss some more relevant articles.
