Hi there,

I work for Fractured Atlas, a non-profit organization that serves a national community of artists and arts organizations.

We're working on an artist advocacy web application that mashes up data about artists, arts organizations, and political districts and displays them as layers on a map. We've written our own Point-In-Polygon algorithm and made a webservice that accepts a lat/lng pair or address and returns district data such as city council, state senate, state assembly, and congress. Unfortunately, though, the webservice is relatively slow.

Rather than reinventing the wheel, I'm wondering if it would be possible for us to provide you with the geometry for these governmental districts and let you roll them into your webservice, for all to use.

Does this idea interest you at all?

Thanks,
Zeke

Thanks for the offer.

In my opinion political districts are not within the inner focus of the geoames project and it seems nobody else is interested in this kind of service. So the only way it could be done would be under some kind of commercial service agreement.

Best

Marc
