Please help! I have a large amount of city/town name and location data in a GIS that I have imported from geonames, however a lot of the data is inaccurate and in many instances the towns/cities are not real towns/cities at all. Is there an quick and easy way to filter the fake from the real and remove the fake from the GIS? At the moment I have 2 million records and going through them manually is too much work.

I have been trying to find a way to solve this problem but have not been having much luck at all, does anyone have anything brilliant to suggest?

There are no 'fakes' in the database. There are certainly errors, as in all large databases, but they are fixed when known.

Best

Marc

Hi Marc, I suspected that would be the only way to clean it up. Thanks for the reply!
