Hi, I am using GeoNames for a research project and I'd like to know, how should GeoNames be referenced in writing? Is there a publication about GeoNames available or should I simply put a link to geonames.org?

It is typical to cite the project name with a link and a date.

Example:
http://portal.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=1653771.1653781&coll=&dl=GUIDE&type=series&idx=SERIES10657&part=series&WantType=Proceedings&title=GIS
