GeoNames Forum

Hi,
I use Geosetter to tag my photos which then uses Geonames to provide the location text. I often get very strange locations assigned and never seem to get the name of the tourist spot that I am at. Maybe there are non assigned for the UK? I did a look up of a few major tourist destinations in the north of England and non come up. I am prepared to go into GeoNames and assign a few myself. But even here I have problems. How can I assign a marker for Whitby Abbey when "Abbey" is not provided as an descriptor?

Under the feature class 'Spot' there are a couple of religious feature codes:

- church
- monastery
- temple
- convent
- religious site

Choose whatever you think fits best.
