Hi

Which WS operation should I use to get the same result as the GeoNames full text search?

GeoNames Fulltextsearch for 'nsw':

http://www.geonames.org/search.html?q=nsw&country=AU

The first result is "New South Wales", good.

Using 'search' WS for 'nsw':

http://ws.geonames.org/search?q=nsw&maxRows=1&lang=es&country=au&style=full&featureClass=A&featureClass=L&featureClass=P&featureClass=S

The result is "Cruising Yacht Club of Australia", not good.

Also, search for 'vic' and the result from WS is not the same as GeoNames Fulltextsearch:

http://www.geonames.org/search.html?q=vic&country=AU

http://ws.geonames.org/search?q=vic&maxRows=1&lang=es&country=au&style=full&featureClass=A&featureClass=L&featureClass=P&featureClass=S

Have I done something wrong?

Are they using the same data source?

Thanks
marc

Hi Ben

The free search service is running on another server and your recent updates have not yet been propagated. It is normally synchronized immediately but every now and then some manual updates interrupt the synchronization and it needs a full database copy.
We have copied the database right now and the result is now the same.

Best

Marc
