I can't find much guidance about what kinds of placenames should be included.

I think this place should probably be deleted: https://www.geonames.org/2165698/germantown.html

As far as I can tell, Germantown was for a brief period of time in the 1850s the name given to a settlement here, before it became known as Westgarthtown and then Thomastown. (https://www.westgarthtown.org.au/history/index.htm)

It's not a currently used name in any sense.

thanks a lot. You are right. I have deleted the duplicates and added some old names marked with 'historic'.
