Hello, we are involved in a project that uses the codes of Cuban geoname locations (about 70 thousand), at the same time we are making corrections to the coordinates of some and compiling a list of new locations to add to your website. Is there a way to perform this action simultaneously on a large number of records? Dr Francisco Cejas Rodríguez, Biólogo, Instituto de Geografía Tropical

Hi Francisco

You can send us a csv with the relevant attributes and we can run a batch update.
Thanks a lot for your contributions.

Best Regards

Marc

then, I will prepare the csv following the pattern of the geonames fields. This file could have all or some of these fields corrected: name of the localities, coordinates (checked on the 1:50000 and 1:25000 topographic sheets of Cuba), alternate names, Class and Code. In the case that any of these fields are empty (e.g. alternate names) it indicates that they have been rejected by our team. Is this ok for you ????

Hi Francisco

Regarding the alternate names. As I understand you return the full list in your csv and delete the invalid ones? Will you also correct alternate name spellings? Then it will be easier to have a second alternatename input csv file with the alternatenameid so we can easily identify which to modify.
The csv for the features should also include the geonameId.

Best Regards

Marc
