One Location - multiple records

I’ve noticed that some locations (cites or villages more or less populated) return multiple records that just slightly different instead of just one. In other words, the service returns for example 3 same locations (Krakow in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). The problem is that if I dump those records into my database I’ll create multiple records.

http://ws.geonames.org/search?name_equals=krakow&fcode=ppl&fcode=pplc&fcode=ppla&style=full

What’s funny is that those locations are all the same, there is only slightly difference in lat/lng which I guess generates unique locationID.

Is there a way to return truly unique locations?
Thanks
