request for combined SRTM3 and GTOPO30 elevation webservice

Hi

At the present, there are two different webservices for elevation. SRTM3 has a high resolution, but only covers land areas between 60 and -56 and it misses small areas in the US. GTOPO30 also covers land areas at high latitudes, but has a much lower resolution.

If I want to get the elevation for a location from the dataset with the highest resolution, I could choose a dataset by testing for latitude and longitude, but it would be much simpler if there was a single webservice doing that for me.

Is it possible to provide a webservice which returns the elevation according to the dataset with the higest resolution for the given location?

At the moment we don't have this combined service. It is possible that we will implement it at a later point in time.

Cheers
