Different Result Between Dump and Webservice

Hi,
I am trying to use the Postal Code dump to do reverse geocoding, i.e. to replicate your findNearbyPostalCodes webservice from lat/long. But I get very different answers from the webservice compared to the dump data. For example, the webservice shows Stanford, CA 94035 at zero distance from 37.42 -122.17. But the dump shows the same postal code at 37.189, -121.705. Is there another data source I should be using?
thanks,

The dump contains lat/lng centroids. For some regions we have polygon data boundaries we use for the web service, distance zero means it is within the polygon.
