SRTM elevation precision

I'm trying to develop a flood simulator, so looking for more precision than google maps elevation API which presents a resolution of 152.07 in my region, i'm testing srtm3. I still couldn't find diferences from the results obtained between both services, only that srtm json elevation value is just an integer.
Which service would be more suitable for me?
