Inaccurate placement for some places, such as towns and villages

I live in Bulgaria. I have noticed that many places (mostly towns and villages) have inaccurate coordinates.

E.g.geoname.geonameid=733608
It gives the location as being in a field 1.2 KM outside of the village of Asparuhovo.

I was looking for the means of correcting such errors, thereby improving the quality of the data set - but I cannot find how to do it from within the GeoNames web app.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

A lot of data is coming from the US Army which had collected them from old maps and rounded the coordinated during this data collection process.

There are several ways how to help and improve.

The easiest is to move the points on the map:
http://www.geonames.org/manual.html

For a large number of records it would be preferable to find a data source with more accurate coordinates like the national mapping agency.

Best Regards
