user account not enabled message even though it has been enabled for the free service

When I try to make a call to the JSON service:

     view-source:http://api.geonames.org/findNearestAddressJSON?lat=40.30618&lng=-80.120611&username=...

It returns a status message saying:

user account not enabled to use the free webservice

(... is my user name)

But I have enabled it in the account, and if I go to the http://www.GeoNames.org/manageaccount page, it says:

the account ... has been enabled for the free webservices on 2011-06-21 19:35:25

The user name in the link to the left of "logout" is spelled exactly the same as in the api URL, all lower case, no special characters. I did "view source" just to make sure.

If I replace my user name with "demo", then it works OK.

Any help getting it to work would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If the username is correct than it is a caching issue, that your browser displays a page you have viewed previously when your account was not yet enabled. Try changing the coordinates to make sure you get the newest result.
