Makati City in the Phillipines

We just had a question from one of the users of our maps on Makati and Pasig - he pointed out that these are major metropolitan areas in Manila and he asked why the populations are so low. Are the populations for these areas included in the population for Manila?

Re:Makati City in the Phillipines

On further inspection, there is a larger issue in that the population listed for Manila seems to be the population for Metro Manila, as described here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_Manila

It seems like each of the 16 cities that make up the metro area (Manila, Makati, Pasig, etc.) should each have their own populations. I suppose I can do this, but I don't know if there is a geonames classification for metropolitan regions, or only administrative divisions like cities, villages, etc.

Makati is a business area, and it is not that big compared to other cities nearby. Probably that's the reason why.
