Duplicated entries?

Hi everyone,

This is my first posting, so I apologize in advance if this is not where I'm supposed to post the questions or if my question appears to be totally stupid because I missed something.

When I run the following query:
http://api.geonames.org/search?name_equals=Luanda&country=AO&featureClass=P&featureCode=PPL&continentCode=&style=FULL&username=demo

I get 7 entries. Looking at the exact match on name and admin code and the approximately close the location, should I consider the following entries as duplicates?
- 2240450
- 2240451
- 2240452
- 2240453
- 2240454
- 2240455

Thanks in advance for your help.

Place names tend to be very much locally clustered, meaning there are often places with the same name in the same area.
Just because they have the same name does not mean they are duplicates, otherwise they would have been deleted from the database. It is not the intention of the geonames project to fill the database with duplicates.
