How to get Parent Admin2

Hi, I am using database dump of India.
India is having 2 admin level ADM1 and ADM2.
My problem is that I am not able to get ADM2 for any city or place.
How is the relation between ADM2 and it's child places in the table.
In the database for cities or places only ADM1 is given.

Thanks

Hi

For India we don't have any information about adm2 in our database. Do you have an idea where we could get this information?

Cheers

Namaste

The geonames dump files do not yet have the admin2 field included since we are still working on it. It is already available via webservice with style=FULL, supported countries are US and FR. Other countries will follow.

In the postal code dump admin2 is available for most countries including India. Ex : http://www.geonames.org/postalcode-search.html?q=delhi&country=IN

Cheers
