lang parameter of citiesJSON

Hi,

my favorite service is citiesJSON :)

There is a lang parameter. The lang parameter is properly evalulated to determine the wikipedia link. Unfortunately, it is not used for the result name - the name is always returned in English.

See for example:

http://ws.geonames.org/citiesJSON?maxRows=7&south=51&east=12&north=50&west=-12&lang=de

Returns "Brussels" instead "Brüssel" (or "Bruxelles"). Same holds for other places, e.g., Warsaw, Rome, etc.

Any chance to fix?

cheers

Hi

It is a known issue. I will see what can be done. The service is already expensive and an outer join with an other large table will make it even more expensive. We are already having too much load on the free servers, in particular during the daily backup/dump.

Best
