Adjoining city, instead of actual one reported. How to correct?

For example, I live nearer to the center of a nearby city than the center of the one I live in. Therefore my location is reported as the nearby city, not my own. Can geonames be corrected to fix that or does it just use city centers? I did a bit of searching in the forum and didn't see anything, although I'm sure this has been asked before.

I am afraid this is currently not supported. The nearby features for city is based on the lat/lng center value. There is not enough data available for an international service based on boundary polygon informat, so we have to make do with what is available. Best Marc
