Problem with Oxfordshire, England postal codes

The OX9 postal codes in Oxfordshire were changed a few years ago, but this does not seem to be reflected in geonames database.

The first part of my postcode changed from OX9 to OX49. Currently, OX49 is not recognised by geonames and this is causing problems when conducting web searches - especially with linkedin.

Two postcodes which I regularly use are OX49 5PX and OX49 5NF.

I notice another user experienced problems with OX6. May be worth doing county wide revision.

Do you have more specific information about what has changed?
What we could do is to change OX9 to OX49. Would this be an improvement?

Re:Problem with Oxfordshire, England postal codes

Hi Marc, I don't think it's quite that simple! The OX9 postcode still exists, but parts of the area were allocated new codes, for example, the Watlington area was changed to OX49, but the Thame area remained as OX9. So, would be good to have OX49 added, but don't remove OX9.
I'm attaching a couple of links. The wikipedia gives complete list of Oxfordshire post codes (the first 3 or 4 digits) and the other link is to royal mail post code updates. This Oxfordshire change happened several years ago, so probably no longer on the the Royal Mail list, but might be useful for keeping abreast of future changes across UK.
