Postalcodes in Germany

Hello,

i just used your service "findNearbyPostalCodes" and have a little question:
Are the results based on the middlepoint of the PLZ or do they use a Postalcode-Area to determine where you are?

I found this posting: http://forum.geonames.org/gforum/posts/list/73.page
And it seems that for US you use zip code area shapes.

Is this possible for germany as well?
Or is this data not avaible?

Thanks in advance

Taghor

Hi Taghor

The US is the only country that has freely available postal code area polygons. For Germany this information is not available and we use the place name coordinates from the main database.

Best
