Invalid Entries in alternateNames.txt

Thanks for providing this great dataset.

I found some funky entries in the alternateNames.txt file.

1910599	3183388	nap	Ajello d%27%27o Sabbato
1909080	3165456	nap	Torre d%27%27o Grieco
2003229	3096639	cs	Krkono%C5%A1e
1982717	2293538	eo	Abi%C4%9Dano
1995882	5855927	pt	Hilo_%28Hava%C3%AD%29
2032903	1300466	nl	Bago_%28divisie%29
1602586	1269321	cs	D%C5%BEamm%C3%BA

Looks like they're victim of some double escaping of a query string. Could these get cleared out or corrected?

Thanks, Rich.
I have deleted the erroneous entries as they were duplicates to correct alternate names.
Please feel free to directly fix errors you find:

Re:Invalid Entries in alternateNames.txt

Hi Marc, and sorry to bother you....but as of Saturday eve I am totally new here.

1) I see you mentioned corrected >> 06/06/2009 17:17:53

2) I downloaded my copy Yesterday (7th) and I'm stamped on my machine for: 10:20am CST (Central US time)

3) I just went back in, and see now all new files dated 6/8/09...and early am? What is the server time there please?

4) As mentioned...new here...and just at the point where I have the Downloaded, did the minor little edits for comments,,,...etc...

5) Should I start over as for donloading?

Thx...Jim

PS.. I'm not after all the "bells and whsitles" that's in this thing...really some siplme items...and plan on tossing a nice donation...if I can get what I simply need from this.

ie... Regions > Countries > States > Cities...etc... (zips when needed) yanked and be able to just simply populate some drop down selects, and toss multiple sections..
No real mapping - imaging needed..

Simply txt DB pulls.

Thx !! And great work !!

The edit was actually on the 4. of June:
http://www.geonames.org/recent-changes/user/marc/

There are improvements every day. So I suggest you either don't care about these changes or implement a daily download/update and grab a new full dump once you are ready with your daily update process.

Best
