admin1CodesASCII anomalies

Hi,

I've notice some records in admin1CodesASCII.txt that have a no value after the country.

I'm not sure how to fix these, so I'll list them here:

Code:

code name nameAscii geonameid
NO. NO. Bouvetoya (general) 6620379
TH. TH. Changwat Phra Nakhon 1607533
BT. Gasa District Gasa District 1252578
JE. JE. Jersey (general) 6620384
KH. KH. Khet Siemreab-Otar Meanchey 1822210

CL. CL. Region de Tarapaca 3870116
TW. TW. T'ai-pei Hsien 1665148

I hope that's the right thing to do..?

P.s. I think Melilla - 6362988 should be 00 like Ceuta - 2519582

:?:

Cheers,

Hi Kamm

'00' means more or less 'we don't now', the same as no code at all. Better would be to find a useful value for the code.
Ceuta and Melilla play a strange role in Spain, they are neither real provinces nor real municipios, they are something in between. Sometimes they are more like provinces sometimes they are more like municipios.

Best

Re:admin1CodesASCII anomalies

Hi,
Great site, I'm fascinated with the amount of information maintained.

I've seen a wrong entry in admin1Codes.txt

BD.33	Mikhaylovgrad

This would mean Mikhaylovgrad is an administrative unit in Bangla Desh.

But Mikhaylovgrad is the old name of a city in Bulgaria - now Montana,
Listed in the same file twice
BG.33	Montana
BG.47	Montana

So the Bangladeshi entry is a typo, see e.g. in the BG file

729113	Obshtina Montana	Obshtina Montana	Gradska Obshtina Mikhaylovgrad,Montana,Obshhina Montana,Obshtina Mikhaylovgrad,Îáùèíà Ìîíòàíà	43.4666667	23.2	A	ADM2	BG	BG	47	MON29 0 212	Europe/Sofia	2007-04-05

I struggled with the User manual, but these admin codes are not seen on the map, and in order to edit something you should first see it.
What would be the way to edit an error like this?

Thanks. I have removed the wrong entries for Bangladesh they will disappear with the next dump tomorrow. They came from mixing up fips country codes with iso country codes. BG stands for Bangladesh in Fips but for Bulgaria in ISO.

Best
