New to Geonames and have some questions

Hi, I've started using Geonames in conjunction with Pentaho and CDF for a dashboard project for our customer base. Everything was running fine on 3/5 but then this morning 3/6 I wasn't getting any data on the maps. What I noticed was the URL ws.geonames.org.... was not responding. After some research I saw that Marc said they ended up removing this domain. On the blog he said to get in contact with him for a subdomain to be used. Marc, can I pm you for this? Secondly, I was looking over the documentation very quickly and I was just wonder what call I should make if I have the latitude and longitude values for a point? Would it be the findNearbyPostalCodes?

Thanks for your help and answers.

Re:New to Geonames and have some questions

The interruption of the free web service today had nothing to do with the subdomains you mention. They are pointing to the same physical servers.

Only for the commercial services can we buy enough hardware and pay staff to guarantee 24x7 availability.

There are a couple of reverse geocoding services:
http://www.geonames.org/export/reverse-geocoding.html
Which one you want to use depends on your use case. (otherwise we wouldn't bother to implement a range of services ;-)

Best
