Match USGS and Geonames record

hi,

I am trying to compare USGS domestic name dataset and Geonames dataset for US (+ dependent states). One thing that I am trying to do is to find records that are present in USGS, but not in geonames and vice-versa. However, I am not sure if there is any field that is common to both.

Can I assume name in both geonames and usgs are same. Or can I use any other column. I thought of using lat/lon but the problem with that they are not unique and there can be multiple features having same lat/lon.

Please let me know if anyone has any idea on how to compare two datasets.
