Strange characters displayed on webpage

Hi. Firstly. Many thanks for this great resource. All your hard work is most appreciated.

I have one question.
Is there anyway I can overcome the odd characters I'm seeing in the names pulled from the database?

In case it's relevant:
The database character set is set to utf8.
Collation is utf8_general_ci.

Hopefully there's an image attached below.

Thanks. Regards Terry.

utf8 is correct. I guess it is a problem with the way you look at the data. The webpage should also be in utf8 if you print utf8 data.

Best

After checking and rechecking, I found that everything was correctly set, yet the problem still persisted.

I eventually found that the problem was the connection between MySQL and php. I explicitly set the encoding in the connector string and all was well.

Problem solved. YAY!

Thanks for taking the time to look.
Having conformation that utf8 was correct, was one less thing to worry about.
