State Level issues

Hi All.

I am running a translation project, and need to find translation for the state/provinces from the original system, in order to do so, I need to text compare the province/state name of geonames data and original data. The thing is, plenity of data from GeoNames has "Province of" or "Estate of", but the data I have doesn't.

Is there any way to pick up this info without the "Province of" or "Estate of" prefixes? or I'llhave to deal with that manualy?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Hi jhonv

Text compare is a tricky business and not as easy as it may seem. Don't forget to look at the alternate names table, most provinces should have their short name without 'province' included as alternate name.

Best
