Hi there,

I'm living in Leuven, Belgium and found a small error in the data the webservice returns, check: http://ws.geonames.org/postalCodeSearch?postalcode=3000&country=be&maxRows=10

It shows 2 cities: "Leuven" and "Leuven Leuven". The second one is completely obsolete and should be removed. How can this be done? Can I do this myself?

Also lots of the smaller regions have names like "Leuven Wijgmaal" or "Leuven Winksele". There is no need to include the administrative division here, the names are just "Wijgmaal" or "Winksele".

Thanks!

Postal codes for Belgium are more or less outdated.
We are on the way to move them as alternate names with pseudo langcode 'post' as already done for France.

Would you like to help us updating Belgium data ?

Thanks for the feedbac opus27! The jargon used is not 100% clear for me but I suppose I could look into that.

I would love to make GeoNames and update the Belgian data but I'm afraid I don't have time at the moment. I created an account on the wiki and will try to fix some things on the way but I need a little more knowledge before I understand what I may change.

Especially your last link is interesting.
