Has there been further discussion of what Points of Interest are appropriate for this project? All I've found is the singe guideline in the manual that says, "don't add irrelevant places like your own house. There are other projects such as tagzania for places of only personal interest."

Are things like restaurants, businesses, and gas stations encouraged, tolerated, or just not appropriate for this project? If these types of points of interest were added, I could see the data getting used by vehicle GPS devices.

Thanks.

Hi Redjar

POIs like restaurants, businesses, and gas stations are welcome. What we don't want are places like 'my uncle jim's house'.

Cheers

Great... that leads to a follow up question. It doesn't look like a Point of Interest can have a street address associated with it. Street addresses are useful for human use. Is there discussion regarding adding address metadata to a PoI?

Hi Redjar

The database already holds address information. See the Banks or Hotels :

The address info is not yet editable with the user interface. This data is coming from external sources.

Is the plan to allow normal users to add/modify the address data? If so, when do you expect this to happen?

Thanks.

Hi redjar

It is not only planned to allow users to edit address information, the information will also be included in the dump. I don't know when it will be implemented. We only have limited resources and our priorities depend on datasets available and what our users are asking for.

Cheers

Marc
