Hi,

Can anybody explain why these searches for 'Sanssouci' don't bring up the expected result:

http://ws.geonames.org/wikipediaSearch?q=Sanssouci&lang=en
http://ws.geonames.org/wikipediaSearch?q=Sanssouci&lang=de

Using 'title' instead of 'q' doesn't help.

I'd expect the queries to find the locations recorded at these pages, both of which include coordinate data:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanssouci
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanssouci

the geo-coordinates in the German article are not using a standard format and are not recognized by our parse.
The coordinates in the English article probably have been added after we have parsed the wikipedia dump.

every couple of months.

This is rather odd:

http://ws.geonames.org/findNearbyWikipedia?lat=52.404273&lng=13.038364

This search is entirely successful, finding Sanssouci from English Wikipedia as the first result. (The latlong is given is very close to the palace.)

However, a search for 'sanssouci' still does not return the palace:

http://ws.geonames.org/wikipediaSearch?q=sanssouci&maxRows=10

Thanks for spotting this problem. 'Sanssouci' was indeed not indexed by the search index. It is now indexed, but not with the full text as this somewhere got lost when parsing the wikipedia dump.
