Hi,

I saw this forum posting:
http://forum.geonames.org/gforum/posts/list/126.page
and such a mapping is useful for me. Is the wikipedia.zip updated since then or is there some other location for the updated data?

Thanks
Mike

Hello,

I am also interested in data from wikipedia which reference the geoname id. I wrote an email to marc and his answer was, there is no more help available, then this file wikipedia.zip.

Greetings
Andreas

Thanks a lot marc.

How do you retrieve this data? Do you work closely with one of these projects:
  • WikiProject Geographical coordinates
  • http://wikitravel.org/
  • or do you use your own parser

Also I found no way yet, do retrieve the images from an wikipedia article without program a webcrawler.

    Thanks

Do you maintain an association between wikitravel articles and GEONames unique ids? Is there a place to download it?
    thanks

    Loic

It is possible that wikitravel does this, GeoNames doesn't have any wikitravel data.
