I'm not sure this sort of announcements go here, but I thought I should mention this to the geonames community.
I am writing a photo viewer that aims at helping people with directories full of photos to find them faster, more easily. Until today, gpuViewer was doing so by presenting a calendar that you could zoom into it and quickly get to the part you're interested in.
This was, of course, only a first step and I have just released the second step: do the same thing with a map.
I'm using GeoNames in this project because it lets the user download location data once and for all, so to say, and "geotag" whenever he wants even if Internet access is unavailable (plane, train, forest, desert). This is really friendly to the user and has been made possible only because of your effort here.
This is my opportunity to say a big thank you to you guys !
My software is available at www.gpuviewer.com
