Hi,

I have a weird problem with a specific place: "Maharepa" from the "French Polynesia" shows up in the main search:
http://www.geonames.org/search.html?q=maharepa&country=

But not on the XML Webservice:
http://ws.geonames.org/search?q=maharepa&maxRows=30&style=FULL&country=

Can anyone explain me this? Or am I doing something wrong?

If I don't have the option to change it, it probably sucks...

Hi Bruno

It was a problem with the synchronization of different servers. Maharepa has been added very recently and the ws server was not yet updated with the new entry.

Hi.. - I am receiving the same issue, specifically for Portugal, Canada, Spain and Mexico.

I tested the GeoNames Postal Code Search Service at the following URL: http://ws.geonames.org/findNearbyPostalCodes?postalcode=2840-457&country=PT&radius=100. It returned a result set that did not iclude my original search criteria (postal code).

I then conducted a secondary search on the GeoNames website at URL http://www.geonames.org/postal-codes/ and the following postal codes were returned with their Latitude and Longitude Reference.

Here is the list of Postal Codes i tested for Portugal

1200-732
2130-016
2135-009
2330-108
2415-338
2600-806
2600-817
2600-845
2600-846
2670-653
2825-862
2840-457

This is different issue. The granularity for Portugal of our geocoding is not as detailed as the number of postal codes. A lot of postal codes share the same coordinate estimation. The code you are using for the findnearby is just not included in the first rows returned of codes which share the same lat/lng estimate.
I cannot comment on the other countries as I have not enough information on the type of issue you see.
