Hi!,
First of all, I would like to thank you for giving this great service for free. I want to notice you that your latitudes and longitudes for the mexico's database are wrong.
For example, ZIP code 14390 with countrycode "MX", returns:
Code:
<lat>19.1027778</lat>
<lng>-104.3486111</lng>
If you go to this coordinates in google map, you will find the point near the coast, on the state of Colima, which is more than 400 Kilometers far from Mexico City.
I traced 450 points from a database I have and there are a lot of mistakes (more than 60% of the cases).
Have you recieved previous information about this errors?
Thanks
Kappuz

Hi Kappuz
Thanks, for letting us know.
I looked into it and found an inconsitancy for administrative division codes that confused the geocoding algorithm.
I have rerun the geocoder with certainly better results.
Cheers
Marc

i'm having the same problem Marc.
it seems that the coordinates of mexico require some calibration.
for example, the zip code 66278, has a coordinate of 25.547/-100.046. however, google maps, gives a 25.639486/-100.325936 coordinate, which is the correct one.
is there a way to obtain the geonames data dump from google maps? or use their API to use a function that gets the postal codes inside a polygon???
thank you very much marc! and congratulations for the wonderful work you've been doing!

hi, everyone
The problem in the db Zip Codes, is started in then admi1code from this states.
MX.05 Chiapas Chiapas 3531011 MX 05 2 MX.07
MX.06 Chihuahua Chihuahua 4014336 MX 06 2 MX.08
MX.07 Coahuila Coahuila 4013674 MX 07 2 MX.05
MX.08 Colima Colima 4013513 MX 08 2 MX.06
the correct key is the last key code for 1st, level & obviusly 2nd level is bad the second key from first level.
The problem is not zip code, the problem is the code of the state
Note:
In this url, I present the same problem to correct this issue with states, municipes & postal codes.

This is Mexico's Post Office official zip codes page link, maintained by government administrative officials.
