It looks like the web services are not responding for some reason. Could you guys get it back up?

We don't have infinite resources to host the free web services. The GeoNames web services are very popular and the number of requests may vary considerably
have other servers for a guaranteed response and up- time with a service level agreement. Please contact me if you are interested.

I certainly understand limited resources, but please let us know if you have shut down ws.geonames.org - it is still not responding, and our tiny nonprofit site (http://www.warmshowers.org) makes 100-200 queries per day using this excellent service. They're timing out, of course. I tested with http://ws.geonames.org/postalCodeSearch?postalcode=9011&maxRows=10 and got a timeout also.

If this wonderful service will no longer be supported (tell me it ain't so!) please let us know.

Don't worry the service is here to stay. At the contrary we will move to better hardware in January.
