I'm wondering if anyone could suggest a nice way to present a destination selector using Geonames. I'm using Geonames on my website: http://www.travnotes.com.

Right now, users can browse to a particular country, region, or city. However, it takes 4 clicks to reach New York, for example. I was thinking of providing a search...however, when I do this, it returns all kinds of data including mountains, etc. Of course, I can narrow it down based on the feature codes, but I'm havign a tough time deciding how to narrow it down. For example, how can I limit the search to return only countries, states, and cities?

On the Geonames website, they have filters on feature class like "country, state, region..." and "city, village...". But how do I create a search filter for "country, state, region, and city"?

If anyone has any recommendations on how I can make my detsination selector more user friendly (like in other websites like tripadvisor, 43places, etc), I'd be very grateful.

Thanks![b]

Hi

You can use the featureClass A for countries and regions together with the featureClass P for populated places.
