Hello all,

I figure out that there is errors in Maroco admin2Codes :

Code:
 'MA.00.151', 'Chefchaouen', 'Chefchaouen', '2553533'
 'MA..066', 'Aousserd', 'Aousserd', '6547297'
 'MA..391', 'Oued-Ed-Dahab', 'Oued-Ed-Dahab', '6547298'

MA.00 doesn't exist in admin1Codes
and obviously the two others neither.

Hops this helps

regards,

Hi xav

Chefchaouen belongs to Tanger-Tétouan (fips 57). I have fixed this.

Aousserd and Oued-Ed-Dahab are in Western Sahara. Here we have a political problem. Some people say Western Sahara is part of Morocco while others (Polisario) say it is an independent country. What shall GeoNames do?

Western Sahara has its own ISO country code EH. So I think, we should make these two regions part of the country Wester Sahara and not Morocco.

Any thoughts about this?

Regards

Marc

Hi,

I believe the wisest thing to do is to stick to the current ISO codes and let the ISO guys handle the political issues.. If ISO says it is an independant country, then I think geonames should blindly follow ... (BTW, I thought that the issue was about algeria vs maroco's western sahara, not maroco vs independant ;-p))

Anyways...
Just to tell you, today's dump (September, 16th) still contains the error :
MA..066 Aousserd Aousserd 6547297
MA..391 Oued-Ed-Dahab Oued-Ed-Dahab 6547298
