Hello all,

There are two names for the country IE (the corresponding geoname id is 2963597) in the iso Language PT (see the alternateName.txt file):
-Irlanda
-República da Irlanda

However, the isPreferredName column of the alternateName.txt file is set to false for each one of them. It seems to me that Irlanda should be the preferred name as Ireland is the preferred name in English.

Wikipedia does not say anything about a specificity to Portuguese language regarding this case.

Would it be possible and right to set the isPreferredName column to True for the Irlanda name?

Furthermore, in Spanish language (iso code ES), there is as well two names for the country IE (again the corresponding geoname id is 2963597):
-Irlanda
-República de Irlanda

"República de Irlanda" is the current preferred one whereas it seems that it should be "Irlanda".

Thanks to everyone
marc

I have marked Irlanda as 'short'. The isPreferred label here may be misleading as both are equivalent, depending on the use case. I thing 'isShort' for the shorter term is more appropriate.

Regards

Marc
