Hello all,

There are two names for the country SK (the corresponding geoname id is 305756 in the iso Language ES (see the alternateName.txt file):
-Eslovaquia
-Eslovaquia (República Eslovaca)

Furthermore, "Eslovaquia (República Eslovaca)" is preferred to "Eslovaquia" in geonames API (see the isPreferredName column in the alternateName.txt file)
However in other languages, it is the contrary: see French where Slovaquie is preferred to République slovaque, or English where Slovakia is preferred to Slovak Republic.

Why using Eslovaquia (República Eslovaca) and not Eslovaquia in Spanish then?

Wikipedia does not say anything about a specificity to Spanish language regarding this case.

Furthermore the same question occurs for the Portuguese (iso Language code PT).

Thanks to everyone
